Musician. Keyboardist. Composer. Arranger.

Amanda is an aspiring composer and arranger, and is currently in the final year of the Diploma in Music and Audio Technology course in Singapore Polytechnic. In 2014, she joined the Singapore Polytechnic Jazz Band, and the exposure and experience she got from the club sparked her passion for jazz. Looking to further hone her skills, Amanda underwent in internship with Hummingbird Concepts in early 2016, where she studied under local jazz composer and arranger, Felix Phang.

Amanda has also been given many accolades by Singapore Polytechnic over the course of her study, such as the Singapore Polytechnic Scholarship and the Singapore Polytechnic Arts Grant. Currently running the SP Jazz Band, she has accrued an extensive amount of knowledge and performing experience under the tutelage of the club’s mentor, local jazz pianist Joshua Wan. She has performed at venues such as the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre and Concourse for annual installations of the Jazz in July festival as part of the Esplanade Presents series, and also various gigs at Blujaz Cafe.

In addition, Amanda has recently been awarded the National Arts Council Matchbox Grant to produce an original jazz composition showcase with her fellow peer, which will feature the works of the duo. The aim of the showcase is to bring about a greater appreciation and awareness for jazz music in the local scene by incorporating jazz with music genres that the public is familiar with. Through this showcase, the duo hopes to encourage and inspire the next generation of young musicians to be more proactive in creating and sharing their original works.
